What Rocket Kits Do You Enjoy Flying in Acton
Author Last Post

I enjoy flying anything at Acton from a 13mm 1/2A to a 29mm F. Variety is the spice of life!

I've flown 1/2A to G in Acton.

My 4" pink crayon is a common sight there flying on a G.

My heavier-than-typical 2.6" Mosquito upscale usually flies on an E or small F.

Saucers are usually good on any size motor (G or less, of course)

I probably put something in the cornfield or the trees or the squash every other launch. I don't recommend.

Acton can be a good field for a variety of rockets when the wind is not blowing toward the trees. Best when the wind is blowing toward RT 2. According to Windy.com, for Sunday, the wind direction is pointing NE which is RT2ish. Some of what I fly in Acton:

Leviathan 20 OZ on an E30-4.

Optima Pro on an E16-4 or E20-4

High Flier XL 4.4 OZ on a C11-5

Executioner 11 OZ on an E12-4 or Quest D22-4

You can listen to the RSO to see who is flying what rocket on a given motor, then observe the altitude.

As Kenn would say, "Keep your rockets on the field."

All kinds A-E motors.

This is my last two launches:

Most of my rockets have been flown at Amesbury, but I'm looking forward to flying a (29mm) 3x upscaled Estes Teros rocket at Acton at some point. I also have a 3" scratch built MIM-23 HAWK (also 29mm) that is also nearly complete.

I brought a PML X-Calibur rocket (only one airworthy at the time) to the last Acton launch, but ended up not being able to fly it that day. It was fun watching everyone else fly though!

I've built and launch several Estes "A" size kits as a kid and a few more with my son years ago, so I thought I'd get back into the hobby and try HP. I had planned to launch the Zephyr I built using smaller engines, then certify and move onto building & designing a rocket. But I'm being encouraged to build & fly smaller rockets again for a while before seeking L1 certification. My question is, what do people generally enjoy launching? I see a few contests for the Astrobee D & others that look fun. Since there is no HP in Acton what are people launching there for fun?
